Meghan Lauer, a current resident of Clinton, Connecticut, is honored to have been selected as a recipient of the AAUW Shoreline Branch 2022 Scholarship. In 2020 she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Connecticut State University with a B.A. in Social Work and a minor in Global Studies. While at Central, Meghan was President of the Student Social Workers Organization and volunteered at several organizations including the CT Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, the YWCA, the CCSU Office of Victim Advocacy, and the CCSU Office of Equity and Inclusion. After graduating she pursued two service years; first, at Great Oaks Charter Schools in Bridgeport, CT then, at the Massachusetts Fair Housing Center where she currently advocates with and on behalf of individuals and families who have faced housing discrimination. Together, these experiences helped her find her passion for advocating with clients for their equity and inclusion in education, housing, and beyond. In fall of 2022 Meghan will begin her studies at Southern Connecticut State University to earn a Master of Social Work and Women’s and Gender Studies.
